To Judge or Discern.
One problem is that we have two quite different uses of the word 'judge' in everyday English. One usage is synonymous with 'discern' - and is used in a positive sense. The other is negative and is synonymous with 'condemn'.
It is the latter which is on most people's minds. It is not for us to condemn, but it IS for us to discern what is right or wrong, good or bad, useful or useless, fruitful or fruitless ...
As Christian - we need to be mindful that it is God Who is Judge and will sort things out - we need not condemn. We simply need to discern and to teach our children discernment and to edify each other in the ability to discern. It is enormous temptation for us to condemn.
