On Avarice

Little by little the poor forget Christ in their greed for gold. It is because of you, the usurer, that the beggar overemphasized gold inorder not to be jailed, and while gathering it, dies opening his eyes in hell; and you, seeing that the beggar did leave some savings, censure him and all the poor, that they have savings. Because you humiliate the poor before others though you are the cause of his censure, you too shall be humiliated by the Just Judge at His judgement, and He will say to you: Inasmuch as ye have not done it unto the least of these, My brethren, ye have not done it unto Me.
